Rant (2/03/2012)

Haven’t been feeling great lately. Work’s really been draining all my energy, although I didn’t do much this week. Not that I don’t enjoy it, but being around kids can really wear you out.

Influenza’s been spreading in my town. One of my schools closed for almost the whole week because half the students are sick. At the other school (the one I was at this week) the kids were just startin to get sick yesterday and today about 12 students were absent, and they were all diagnosed with influenza, leading to the second year class being sent home. They have this sytem where if a certain number of students get sick, they are forbidden from coming to school, engaging in club activities, and even doing anything outside the house even on the weekend for five days.

Miraculously, I am still okay, although I feel tired as hell. We’ll see how I am after this weekend.

On a different note, I was reading the JET Forums, in particular the “Aspiring JETs” section. Reading posts by people in the application process really makes you feel good about having made it through the application process and gotten the job. Sure life in the frozen countryside sucks at times, but I often forget how many people are dying to have this job (as did I just half a year ago.) So there’s something I can think back to when I feel down.

On a final note, I really want to buy a fucking guitar, but I don’t have enough money. Usually such a purchase would be no problem with my salary, but a lot of it goes back home, so I usually have only about 2~3000 yen in my wallet by the time payday rolls around. Oh well.
